More power=diferente camshaft???
Hey toyo guys, lol! Quick questions, I would be getting a new head gasket installed in my 88 toyota 4runner 22re and I am interested in just getting a new head as well. Now, if I would like to add more power to the truck I was told to get a different camshaft, is that right??? If so, do you know which one, the size and where I should get it from? Do I need to replace/change any other part in the head if I get a different camshaft?
I am getting a used head, no need to shave for $150 and looks really clean and in good shape just out of the machine shop for cleaning. What do you think or suggest? Thank you!

Not sure what brand to recommend, but I have a LCE street cam in mine. but new valve springs are definatly recommended, maybe even new rocker arms and I would have it ported and polished to. If there is alot of miles on the truck I wouldnt recommend any of this because a good top end puts alot of stress on a wore out bottom end

I just installed a ENGNBLDR Street RV head with 268* cam installed already. I haven't buttoned it all back up and broken it in yet but really looking forward to it.
their heads run $400-500 and cams are $98 extra if you get a head with it installed. Come with oversized valves and are brand new castings. Really well reviewed....search around about them and you'll see.
Or if you want to buy my OEM head with 275K miles and possible warpage, let me know LOL.

Thank you guys, I will be making some considerations. i rebuilt the engine when 170k, now it has 222k. So, I definitely want to make sure if installing power on the top that won't stress the bottom.
