Get a bigger engine is the best suggestion. The 22re was build for longevity and endurance, not power.

There are a few mods you can do to gain 10-20 HP, but nothing big. Do a search, there's 1 thread a week started for this.

Mods include: AFM/battery swap, get headers, larger exhaust, get a different camshaft and/or over sized valves from engnbldr.

He pretty much said it all. You shoot for bigger HP numbers and you will sacrifice the dependibility of the motor. LCE makes a supercharger. (Just a thought) I would love for my runner to have more power but i just have to realize that its a toyota and it is what it is.

someone came into work with a 22re that was pushing 200hp on the dyno.... he told me he dropped almost 20 grand into it. now what do you prefer... spending 20 grand on another 70 or so hp, or spending maybe 2500 and dropping a 3.4 or a 350? your choice. cheaper to drop another engine in.

I was thinking about dropping a chevy engine in for a while. You can buy a trashed truck or van or suburban on cragslist for $800. Tear the engine out, rebuild it and sell the body of the vehicle and you'll run a rebuilt engine pretty cheap.
