More EFI fuse blowing issues...
Hello all.....I am new to the forum and am hoping to help out where I can and have help where needed. At his time.....help is needed.
My 89' pick-up was in storage for the last 2 yrs. I got it up and running recently and am having problems with the 15 amp EFi fuse. I have been reading up on various threads related to the problem but cannot seem to find the exact problem that I am having. The truck will run for about 5 mins then pop the fuse. This is a recent problem as I have been driving the truck for about 500 miles before this ghost showed its face. The fuel pump is ok as I have checked it with an ammeter. The O2 sensor is disconnected. The CO relay.....well I am not sure if this may be the problem as it starts everytime as long as the fuse does not pop. Something in the system is pulling too many amps. At times the truck will pop the fuse right when the key switch is turned on and at times it will run for a time then it strikes again. One thing that I did notice (and I may be crazy) was that it would die as I would be feathering the clutch such as driving away from a stopped position. I changed out the fuse and revved the engine and rode the clutch and it ran for 5 mins. Maybe the Air Fuel Meter??? I am not sure.
I thought that I would post this to see what members would have to say about it. If anyone has any ideas.....thanks.

Hmm. Mebbe something is rubbing and causing a short to ground. When you let out the clutch, it causes the engine to rock (slightly) on the motor mounts.
Additionally while it was in storage, you may have had a varmit chowing down on some key wire insulation. Might sound a little far-fetched, but I've seen wiring in houses gnawed on by mice cause some wierd power outages.

Well to those that provide the great info, I thank you. The problem has been found. The harness going to the rear section of the truck had rodent damage. So for those that are planning on storing their truck....get a cat to ward off any varmit. Thanks again.
