Mech in NH?

Hi all,

New to this forum. I have a 95 with a 22re, 5spd, 2wd. I need to do the timing chain. I would do it myself, but I have no garage and don't want to wait til it warms up.

Does anyone know a good indy that is able to do this in NH? I tried a couple of places, but one said he doesn't have the time, one just doesn't do toy timing chains, and one quoted $700 to $800 (not including timing cover, water pump, or oil pump) (which I guess isn't bad cuz it's including pulling the head). I am hoping for someplace that might be a little less cost wise - don't mind the "head on" method to control the cost, but I don't know of an indy that might be willing to do it that way.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Great board here!

Thanks for any input,
Wayne

where in NH. I am from Methuen, which is just below Salem... and I might be able to talk to a few friends that are motor heads.. just need to know where you are in NH.

Oh yeah, I am currently stationed in Cali, but like I said I lived there for 19 years...lol

Candia, NH

I'm right near Manchester, so going to Methuen is not a problem. Like I said, I would do it myself, but right now I have no garage space and it's too &^%$ cold to do it outside!

Thanks for any help!

I have spoken with two of my buddies, and neither of them have the time now. From what it sounds like, one is currently going through and ugly divorce and the other.... well he just isn't interested. Sorry dude, I thought that I might be able to help you out.

I listen to 'Click and Clack' on NPR (automotive radio talk show for the most part) and they have a "mechanics x files" on their site (cartalk.com) which lists names of mechanics/shops that are either recommended OR unrecommended by their listeners.
