Massive Coolant Leak

Drove my truck to the Store This Morning For Coffee Walked Outside and the Coolant was Pouring out of the Front of the Engine. It Was leaking above the Water Pump so after Reading the Forums Tonight it Sounds like it Might me the Number 2 Idler Pulley Gasket. I disassemled the Front of the engine to do a Front Seal and Replace the gaskets for the Idler Pulley I Did'nt see any Gaskets so I guess You just use Permatex Blue Or Red?
The Bearings in the Idler Sound a Little Dry But it Seems to Spin OK so I am Going to RTV and Put it back Together and See What Happens.

Do I Replace the Idler Assembly?

Blue or Red RTV or Does it Matter?

I hope the problem is the Idler Pulley assembly,What do you Guys Think?

Thank You guys for the help

Dax

I don't think the idler pulley has a gasket, when I replaced mine the new one came with a rubber seal on it, kind of like an O-ring. If you took it off and put it back that seal may be too squashed to work properly. Try the blue rtv, and don't overtighten it, or you'll just squeeze the rtv out.

Having said all that if there's any noise from the bearing and you can afford a new pulley I would get it, if the bearing goes it will toast the timing belt.

Thanks ETR! I think I Will Just Get New Idler Assembly my Old Ones Groove for the O-Ring is Pretty Chewed Up. I am Really Really Hoping this is Where my HUGE Coolant Leak is coming From. I Can't Imagine a Headgasket Developing a Huge Leak Like This. I will keep my Fingers Crossed! Will I need to use the Blue RTV And the New O-ring or Just one or the Other???

The new idler pulley assy will come with the o-ring style gasket already pressed in the groove. Just bolt 'er on.
