Manual hub is jacked

My first greasy problem. My driver side hub is all kinds of jacked up. PO said he always had problems with it being hard to turn to unlock. Even in unlocked position, she stays locked. I got this terrible noise while driving and I'm 99% sure it's because one hub is locked and the other isn't. Been there before. I pulled the cover off and the spring nearly launched into my hand. Here's what I'm looking at.

I've never worked on my hubs before, because, well, honestly they freak me out lol. What is it SUPPOSED to look like and how is it SUPPOSED to go back together?? The passenger side locks and unlocks as it should, and the spring is attached to the cover, so I can't get a good look at how it's in there. I really don't want to take apart the good one and mess that one up too. Any help would be appreciated. I know it's probably a simple fix.

Thanks.I tried searching before I posted but couldn't find anything useful. More searching paid off. Between a post on here and the FSM I was able to figure it out. All the tabs on the clutch were bent to hell. Gonna need a vice for future projects. Anywho I got her figured out, now waiting on the wifey to get home with some grease to stick it back together.

Got it back together and it works. It actually works.

However that didn't solve my squeaking/grinding noise. Must be the tranny

I have the same thing going on with mine. Took both hubs apart, rebuilt and I still had noise from front driver wheel. Figured out it was a dry/ going bad cv axle. Now Im going to replace that. You might want to check yours
