Exclamation major engine problem

Alright so i was drivin my 95 4runner with a fairly new 3.0 home from work when all of a sudden it just dies on me. pulled over slipped in neutral and it turned over really slow and finally started. after that it has a pretty loud knock at idle up to about 1500 rpm then it goes away? it hasn't been using any oil lately but here a few weeks ago it got some water sucked up in it but it was NOT started until i changed the oil in it. also it has not been showing any codes

What do you mean it got some water sucked up in it? In other words, how'd it happen, how long did it run once the water got in, and how much water? What I mean is a little water is not going to hurt anything......but, that's only a little.

If a substantial amount got in, you could have cam bearing damage or main bearing damage. Can you tell if the knock is in the crankcase or in the heads?

sounds like a rod bearing. maybe from a little bit of hydro locking going on. The reason why it might go away at 1500 rpm is because oil pressure should be a little higher than at idle and it is helping to quiet it down.

it was enough to turn the oil milky, as far as engine noise it was really loud when i pulled the valve cover and started it
