LSD and Steering

I just want to confirm what I've been reading up on regarding Supra LSD carriers. The MKII (82-85) supras use a 7.5" diff while the MKIII use an 8". An 86 4cyl 4x4 truck should be using a 7.5" rear, correct? And therefore the LSD from MKII supras fits right in (with minor bearing and gear swapping).

Is there any way to confirm aside from ripping the axle apart whether I have a 7.5 or 8" just in case someone swapped something?

Regarding steering, I have been unable to find any information about faster steering ratio mods for IFS 86-88 trucks. Can anyone help me with this? Gearboxes? Linkage?

No an '86 has an 8" rear and an IFS 7.5" up front.

IIRC, I think, the second gen 4Runners(90-95) had a faster steering ration and I would think that it would bolt on just fine to an '86 truck. You'd have to search a little to get the for sure answers...

Ahh, thanks for clarifiying that for me. So I need to be looking for a MKIII Supra LSD then. The V6 and I4 rear ends from 86+ are the same then?

Yes and no. The V6 thirds have an extra "fin" or rib on the snout for strength but should bolt right in with no issues on a I4 rear axle tube.
