at a loss on head gasket

ok here is the skinny as you all know we rebuilt our 1986 rtec pick up. all was going well the truck was running great. boost gauge was reading 5lbs of boost.1000 miles on the rebuild. All of a sudden we lost about a quart of coolant.drained the oil after letting it sit for a day thinking oil and water will seperate, nope nothing but sweet crude. Ok now im thinking it is a thermostate not opening (im trying so hard to convince my self that it is not a blown head gasket). But it was opening up ok.So it did it again this time i smelled coolant out of the exhaust soooooo we pull the head i can not see were the head gasket blew. oil drained again was black but this time we had GGGGGOOOOOAAAALLL LIGHTING brown foamy crap under the valve cover. We also did a comp test #1 -135 #2 ☺☺☺☺goal devils 120 #3-120 #4 135 we ave new stuff coming from ted if it happens again any one want to buy a t ruck

Did you have the head/block decked when you did it the first time?

What kind of HG did you use the first time?

I'm running one of Ted's turbo HG's, I'm hoping I can get through the summer without an issue from it. I've got a spare, but it's not something I'm looking forward to doing again.

Are you only running 5lbs right now just to be safe during break in? Cause that TEC kit should be able to pump out quite a bit more.

yes the head was milled and the block was true, the head gaket was from auto zone not from tec. BUT we are going with teds kit on wensday. Im thinking its a timing cover, hole spraying coolant up to the valve cover. The chian did sound sloppy at start up all the time then went away. Ill pull the cover tonight

If you've got any slices in the cover on the driverside, that defonitly could do it. even a pin hole in the part of the cover will drain your coolant real quick.

A 22RE cover(again, I got mine from Ted) will fit properly, but the oiling holes are a little different.
