Losing power steering
3hr drive on the interstate, some surface roads and I got to my destination and had no power steering.
Truck has sat for 5yrs, but if I remember right I put a pump before it sat. It's turning and though the belt is a little loose, it's not squeeling, just no power. After it sat for 3-4hrs I had power steering again. Weird.
I think I'll start w/ a flush, but I forget how. What's the procedure? Is there a pressure relief valve somewhere that might be weak?
Any advise on this would be most welcome

If it sat for 3 years there might be just enough condensation that will cause problems once things got warm .
Once things cooled down it worked again
Seems to be a few different flush methods .
One I have always used is disconnect the return hose aim it in a 5 gallon bucket depending on just what one is working on a piece of extra hose might be needed to reach the bucket without a mess.
I tend to make a mess no matter what !!!
Add new fluid to the reservoir never letting it run dry till clean fluid runs out the return line
Most times when I did this the old fluid was quite discolored and the change was easy to see
Dump the old fluid in my waste oil barrel to help heat in the winter .
