Looking at 1986 4Runner

I am looking at an 86 4Runner with 22RE and 5 Speed 171K miles. I was wondering if there was anything to look out for when i was checking out the truck. I searched and couldn't find any info so forgive me if I missed it. I'm a 3rd gen guy who definitely wants to add a 3rd gen to the list of vehicles.
Thanks

As you know, the 22re vehicles are pretty reliable. AT 175k miles, if maintained well, it could easily go another 100k.

With unknown history, check the compression, make sure there aren't any transmission or bearing noises.

Check for rust..

Whats the price and how are the cosmetics?

I am looking at a few for hopefully in the 1000 to 1500 range with some negotiating. I am in Montana, so rust shouldn't be an issue. I am still waiting on some pix, so not much of an idea on the cosmetics.

look under the oil fill cap for signs of sludge

check the rear wheel wells for rust or fresh paint (over bondo)

test drive for bad noises - grinding, etc - small squeaks and rattles are normal

front locking hubs turn easily

these trucks are pretty bullet proof, but maintenance is still important and outright abuse can still break stuff
