Amen, amen again. I feel for ya. My rig is not currently in the best of shape, but even I would feel completely sick if any thing happened to it. People I know just don't understand the bond I have with my "Toyota". I hope everything works out great for you and you find an even better Toy.

reminds me of my encounter with a Chevy.

We drove to dinner, he went to the hospital, his Chevy went to the crusher.

Don't play with the insurance company. They have plenty of lawyers to figure out how to screw ya. Get a lawyer before anything is agreed upon.

I'd find the meanest, nastiest SOB in the joint,(the one who has a Toyota), and tell him what happened. I'm sure he'd love to pay him a "visit" !!!!! If ya wanna drink,fine.......just don't drive!!!!! I hate drunks who drive!!!!

Yup, Elton, built it myself.

The toy didn't escape unscathed though. It was tweaked for sure. That was a very hard hit, very nearly head on and the Chevy was doing a good 50mph (he ran the light.)
You can't tell in the photo, but it shoved that Chevy's whole engine back, half thru the firewall into the cab.

The Toy's long been fixed and I'm still driving it today.

Unfortunately we didn't get any injuries, so no lawyer would help us and the other driver's insurance company screwed me.

Hey sorry guy that sucks. Looks just like the one I bought brand new. That was a sweet ride. The wife works for an insurance company, has for years, and yeah we both think they suck. But you may still be able to buy it back from them. Just call and ask. Sometimes it,s as little as a hundred buck. Worth a try. Parting it out will go a long way for goodies for the next one. Or maybe swap stuff if the next one aint so nice.

It took me a year, but I just started building an 87 4runner and I'm little gun shy. Does anyone have any suggestions on protecting all of your ad ons - replacement value?
lojack? lowers insurance and lets the cops track your rig if stolen so maybe it will not be stripped/total loss
