Find someone Local to You .
Trying to warrant a Engine Long Distance is a royal pain with all the shipping costs and time.
You can go with someone like Jasper that has a nationwide warranty but then you pay a good price for that.
Local Engine rebuilders not a option??
Then it might depend on just what engine your shopping for.

I would say, only Toyota is a sound choice on a long block. Everything else is a crapshoot. Unless you build it yourself, and follow extreme engine builder scrutiny. Even then, it will be a distant second to the original.
Ive found certain parts are total crap unless oem like head gasket, timing set, pistons, rings, etc. Not many engine rebuilders use oem parts. Even fewer will set up the motor with oe tolerances.
It seems cheaper to buy a reman. But most likely in the end it will be 3x more expensive and 10x more hassle.
