load noise after replacing timing chain

I replaced the timing chain with engnbldr kit with timing cover (rock auto), also replaced the oil pump (factory), water pump (factory). Now I have a knocking noise. Has anybody experience this before?

Just how loud of a noise??

Is this when cranking the engine or with it running ??

Did it start right away ??

Do you have any photos of the build process?

Hard to say what's making that noise, but it sounds like a chain riding on something to me. Things happen. Crank gear being put on backwards, binding chain tensioner, even a timing cover bolt into the wrong hole can cause serious problems.

To start, I'd remove the valve cover and check the chain tension. Should be very tight. Turn the crank by hand with a breaker bar to get a better picture of where the noise is from. Visually check the chain guides and make sure they feel solid and positioned right.
