Lift questions
I acquired a parts truck a couple of weeks ago, mainly for the 5spd tranny. While swapping the 16" wheels/tires I discover it has new brakes to include rotors/calipers/drums and hardware, as well as all new steering parts. Also it has a 3" body lift. I want to go ahead and start changing out parts, to include the body lift. However I have concerns about my automatic shifters and the steering column, as my donor didn't come with a steering column. Am I going to run into problems with my shifters, both auto for now and sticks later?
I also found a local guy that just bought a similar year lifted pick up and wants to return to stock height. I made a deal to swap my 15" wheels, stock knuckle arms, and "U" bolts for his 4" suspension lift, w/shocks. I'm attaching the pictures he sent me of the rear blocks & knuckle arms, what else should I be looking for to come with this type of set-up? So I'm going to end up with 6-7" of lift. My 89 has no stock rear sway bar or any place for mounting one. Can it be modified to accept one or will an aftermarket one fit, or can one be made to fit from something else?
