Lets talk ecm,s

Due they program the ecm with differ parameters for say an 83 toyota celica and an 83 toyota pickup. for the performance. Here is the deal i have a 75 celica with a 22re out of a 88 pickup. And was wondering if a ecm from a 83 celica would run different over the 88 ecm from the pickup. Like i say it runs ok but just thimking the celica ecm would run better

83 celica motor is completely different (well not really but enough differences) then an 88 22re. Ignition timing being one of them. Your talking short deck versus tall deck motors, I don't think they will be the same. You also got to take the sensor resistances into account as well. You can't just drop an ECM in and expect it to work with the wrong sensors.

good to know thanks. Just a thought tryin to gett more power out of it. just the ecm an motor out of the 88 have sensors my car does not such as ( oxygen, speed, 4x4, and ac ) the car runs fine with out them. Just a little rich. However i did put a cold air filter kit on it and use 2 inch pipe. Thinking of stepping up to 3 inch pipe get more air volume.
