Left-over Part. Any Ideas?

OK, I didn't follow one of my basic rules: "Take pictures before removing parts!"

I had the fuel tank out of my '91 4runner to do a little rust repair and when I put everything back together I had one piece left over. This little bracket is 2-1/4" long (not including the nut) and goes somewhere above/near the right rear axle, probably to help secure a hose or cable. I thought it would be easy to remember where it went but when I was done and everything was secure, it had no place to go.

Might be one of those cases where Toyota attached a hose/cable clamp to bracket then to a standoff and its not obvious why you need the bracket when you try to put it back together.

If you know where it goes and can send a pic, let me know.

Thanks!

Jim G.

I'm going to wager a guess... It looks like "a" (not THE) bracket that would hold the joint between a hydraulic soft/hard line where a C clip would hold it in place. My guess would be for the rear brakes especially since you were in there where the gas tank is.

I would check around the LSPV valve and see what you come up with.

Did you end up with any extra bolts as well?

No, didn't have any extra bolts. Here's a picture of the only place I can think of that it might go, just behind the tank near the LSPV. It might fit there somehow, along with the clamp that I already installed.

Did you unbolt anything from the 3rd member (pumpkin). Just a guess is that the bracket for speed sensor?

Yeah, the pic shows what I put back as the bracket that holds the speed sensor wire/tube. Could be the way it was originally, could be not. Didn't take anything off the pumpkin or rear axle. More likely the part came from around the right rear frame rail, maybe beside the gas tank or the rear shock/spring tower.

Anyway, hope it's not too critical. I'll probably wake up in the middle of the nite some time in the future and remember where it came from!
