Knock sensor wire routing

After getting my engine back from the machine shop, I got it assembled and found I routed the wire for the knock sensor to the back of the engine. Apparently I wasn't paying attention. However, I can't see where it is supposed to be routed. I'm prepared to just splice in enough wire to get it where it needs to be, but I would much rather do it the right way. Right now the engine is out of the truck, so it really is the best time to do it, even if I don't want to, but I need to know how this is supposed to go.

What engine? Routing may vary according to the engine.

Not that I often forget to provide critical information.

It's a 3VZE 1990 4Runner.
