knock sensor killing MPGs?

so the title pretty much sums up my question, will a short in the knock sensor hurt my mpgs? i recently rebuilt the engine with new everything almost, all the filters i can think of, and the o2 sensor were all replaced. i am getting a code 12 which is knock sensor short. on a recent trip in only got 14mpg all highway, could the knock sensor be responsible for this?

Knock sensor will pull timing = poor power = high EGTs... Very possible.

I recently replaced the wiring for the knock sensor on my 22re and immediately noticed a difference in mileage and power.
