Knock sensor engine bay wire

3vze knock sensor wire that runs to the ECU. According to the service manual, it looks like it's spliced 3 times as it travels to the ECU. 2 in the plastic wire tunnel and one outside by the power steering pump. Has anyone ever had this harness apart? Do you think the connection could be bad at one of these junctions? Or maybe the shielding is bad and why I am getting a code 52. Knock sensor and pigtail are new OEM units.
