Ahhhhhh, .... I saw one for sale the other day, his body, with a 3.4. Could it have been a 95.5 with his body, stock? The guy didn't mention swapping the motor. I would think he would if he'd gone through all that, no? lol. Maybe he didn't know what he had, lol. Saw a T-100 with a Diesel for sale, too.

i wanna know where you're looking for vehicles at......

a diesel T-100 would make me go to my happy place...ESPECIALLY if it's a 4cyl cummin

it could have very well been swapped.

i've done lots of 3.4 research though..and i've never heard of one coming STOCK in the 3rd gen pickup body style.

I might have it bookmarked, ...if I can find it, I'll post it to ya.(The 3.4 one) The T-100 Diesel was a straight 6 I believe. I'd have to find him again(he lives in the area and has a sign on it). Yeah, I'd really like a 3.4 in a second truck. Build the crap out of mine and leave the 3.4 Taco KINDA stock, ya know? I think that 3.4 gets better mileage than my 22re actually, hahaha. My dad has a 2005 Tundra TRD straight-bed/ Step-side 4 Door with the V8..... that gets better mileage than mine, too! lol.

OH...you're looking in LA...

yea i checked out the LA CL one night being bored...found a Tundra with a 12v cummins in it..i believe it had gotten the Tundra body swapped onto a dodge frame..cuz it was ton's front and rear..plus the diesel and 5spd.....in fact it probably HAD to have been like that..it looked STOCK except it was lifted..i mean it looked like it had came from the factory like that.

guy wanted like $15,000 for it..had 47K on the motor and tranny..100K on the tundra body its self

Yeah, ....lot's of goodies in LA, lol. Especially nice is the 'NO RUST' percentage, ya know? I've found a few, but I have to be sure what I want to do. I like the Late 80's Supra Turbo's... Just for a 'round town' kinda car, ya know? My dad had one and it was INSANE! lol. He sold it with like 240K on it and had NEVER rebuilt it. The next guy blew it up in a month, of course... Dad took good care of his stuff, lol.

well this will be ordered soon, measure the length of where they fit and right now, there is only 8.5 inch there, so these must compress about 2 - 2.5 inch after install.

Not sure what you mean, Coops???

Are you saying you're at 8.5" from top of rim to top of fender-well? REALLY? If so, that's BAD! lol. Mine is at 13+ now and was 10 before the coils... So whatever mine compressed it's ok, ..I got exactly what I was looking for out of them.

Could you clarify for me, Coops?

NO, where the spring will sit,
from where the top of the spring sits to the bumper stop

Cool, Coops! lol. Hope you enjoy the EXTREMELY reasonable price-mod! I had it up on the rack today, and FULLY dropped on the rear axle, they only came down 1/2" from the frame. I suppose 14's would have still been touching, but they'd be too tall for me. Have fun with the SawZaw and Torch!

ChefYota,

I'm thinking of doing this mod, however, I am also thinking of doing the SDORI ball joint spacers up front. Would the 14 inch springs provide too much lift giving the rig an awkward amount of rake? I was also thinking of trying the Jeep TJ coils instead of the eBay ones. However, I think those might give an insane amount of lift without cutting them. I guess I am limiting my options based off of what is going to look "normal" with the ball joint spacers.

Mahalos.

Chefyota,

How do you like the Rancho shocks? I'll be shopping for shocks as well...

In reading your Zuk Mod thread, I find that I fall into the same boat as you. I want the OME suspension for my rig but do not want to pay for it (again...I actually did a full OME suspension on my old Jeep TJ...it was AWESOME...but spendy). I'm going the budget route this time around.

Hey JSimmons, ...

On the Rancho RS5000's? I've read several times that they're the stiffest one they have. However, the 9000's are supposed to be a really nice ride. 5000's are 40-50$ on sale and 9000's, ...well,I've not seen them less than 88$. However, I think when I load up, the 5000's work fine...It's just that I"m only loaded up around 3% of the time, honestly... so i've been looking for maybe 9000's or Bilsteins or anything that will work. Heard some not so good feedback on the ProComps, certain series... NOT ALL, ...but they're certainly more reasonable. I think the GAS procomps are supposed to be nice. Nitro's? Guess it's all a matter of how stiff you want the response to be from any given shock, eh?

I'm not exactly sure, to be honest, but I've heard by quite a few who've done MUCH suspension work, mods, etc. that the 12" coils with 1.5" BJ's and torsions up to around 13.5 clearance on the front, beforehand does the trick.. Then, basically add the 1.5" spacers and you'll be set how the truck is meant to sit, level-plum. Ok, ...basically, mine in the rear, with the shell on, is at 13" on the dot, top of rim to top of wheel well. The Front? 13.5" or so. They should be 14.5, so I might just go an inch with a torsion bar adjustment or replacement Torsion bars. However, the 14" coils? ... Hmmm. If you read cougars thread(he's in here back a few posts... not "Death Cougar" the staffer... But just Cougar)... He went with 14's and ended up cutting off 2". I BELIEVE he has 1.5 BJ's too. I'd have to look to refresh myself, very busy lately, lol. I think if I got 1" BJ's, I'd be fine. However, I'm hesitant to do them as most of my reading has led me to conclude that it's not uncommon for them to cause CV damage/failure. I guess that's probably largely to do with people doing them wrong or just not keeping an eye on/inspecting first, the rest of the IFS system to see if it's dried up and damaged, first, ya know?

I think you can do 14"ers and BJ's with torsion bar torque,.... but like I said, I'm not an expert on suspension. I'm not sure I'm qualified to.... NO, I'm not qualified to tell you what will work, SAFELY(meaning without causing quicker damage to your CV's and more)... Just read too many stories with the BJ spacers and blown CV's. Guess you could ask Zuk, too, ...maybe? lol. Yotarob has been trying to find the safest, most flexible and longevity giving solution, as well.... He's on this forum also.

Thanks for the input Chef. I'm just trying to figure out what will work best for me. I'm not trying to make a monster truck out of the rig or anything. Right now I have 31" tires on it and it rides just fine, with regard to the tires. The suspension is absolutely worn out. The rear leafs are practically straight. Very harsh ride. In the front, when I turn right over a slight incline (say a driveway entrance) every now and then I'll get a "clunk" noise. So, I figure I need to go through the suspension anyway...just wanted to put something together with a bit more lift and a better ride.

I'm thinking the 12" springs in the rear might be the way to go for now. The jury is still out on shocks. I'm not looking to break the bank but I don't want to buy junk.

After experiencing the ride with my setup using 14" 100#'s, I'm really happy I went that route instead of the 12" 125#'s. But my springs were literally flat, no arch at all so your mileage may vary.
