Best 1500$ I ever spent. Keep looking if you really want one that is clean, they are out there. It took me almost a year to find this one.

 

it's NOT .. and there super easy to install .. just some simple tools , and you 2 can do it ..

Offer him 1K and if you keep under 1200 your doing well. I'd love it if my 95 4Runner had a 22re as my 92 pickup does. So you have a bit of a mess, so what...replace the fenders and tigerhair the rear for now and your golden for a bit. As time goes on replace the other stuff. If you're not happy with it I'll trade you my 95. I'd much rather have a rusted 1st gen than a rusted 2nd gen.

All seriousness I think you should go for it, you won't regret it. A little time making her pretty is what it's all about. I would not go over 1200 though.

 

Junker88 - That is an awesome rig. I did look at one like that around here today, but they wanted $4,000. Usually, I'm the guy that will take a while to search out the right car before I buy, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch on this one. So...I might have to deal with what's available right now. Gorgeous truck though.

Lumpy - I think I will offer him $1K and see where we go from there. I love restoring vehicles, I just don't have all my tools with me here. But I do have an auto shop on Fort Campbell. Those fiberglass fenders and 1/4 panels look pretty nifty. Doesn't look too difficult either. Just wonder how long it would take. BTW - what is "tiger hair?"

Tiger-Hair is fiberglass.
It's just hairs or strings of fiberglass that you use resin to fix holes or bond things together with.
If you do it right, with fiberglass, it can come out looking really nice.

the front fenders are easy to replace, just buy new ones lol.
and the rocker, well, there arent any compound curves on that so you can chop it out and replace it relatively easy

 

thats a nice runner junkers, something like that would go for at least $4000 where I'm from

It seems this truck is displaying the disparity in prices throughout the country. Everyone out west can't believe how much this is going for, while everyone out east thinks it can be saved.

Just FYI, I'm considering a '94 Bronco XLT in addition to this rig. The Bronco is in far nicer condition but gets horrible mileage and has a funky auto transmission in it.

Didnt see anyone say check the frame for rust, but check over the under carriage.

 

Frame checked out to be fairly rust free. Just some "dusting" on certain areas.

I know I am late to the party but here is my $.02 I would make an offer. Rust is fixable and if its a good runner then buy and really for $1600 you could drive it until the body fell off and you would have got enough miles out of it to justify the $1600. I say make an offer just because I hate to pay asking price

 

Well, I'm headin' out to go pick it up. I haggled with him quite a bit and I know I'm probably overpaying by a few hundred, but we agreed upon $1500. Normally I would haggle some more, but I don't have the luxury of time on this deal.
