Inexpensive eBay clutches
What are your thoughts? I hate to skimp on parts difficult to replace, but I also hate spending extra money. Are they cheap garbage or decent?

Welcome to YotaTech.... i would get a Marlincrawler comes with every thing you need also have the flywheel resurfaced its about a 4 hour job with a few freinds and a transmisson jack ..... as you know the saying you get what you pay for so i would spend the extra money on quality parts

try it and let us know how it works for ya. it might be a good kit and last a long time. they seem to have great feedback. if it where an internal motor part i would pass but doing a clutch in a 2wd trucks are pretty simple. i ran a cheap clutch kit in my 87 pickup years ago and then after that ran it in my 4runner for a few more years and the disc is still good.

trail-gear.com has oem clutches for 150, and thats what i would get if i were you, im personally getting marlin's h.d. clutch because of my use of the truck.

I just put a new Marlin clutch and flywheel in my truck, and I can say the quality of the parts is top notch.
I'd look into LUK clutches, you may be able to save a few $$ and go that route. I've heard good things about them.

Here is a nice TRD clutch w/ flywheel on ebay - you may want to watch this and maybe it will go for a reasonable price -

Some people use OEM to mean stock as in stock replacement, so I just wanted some clarification.

myself and intrepid replaced ours with a clutch kit from asco/aisin. we found them on ebay from eclutchmaster.com. that is the seller. asco/aisin is the manufacturer of toyota clutches, but we were able to save some $$ by not getting the toyota name on them. i have had mine in for about 40k now, and it is still going strong.

The Exedy clutches are pretty good and cheap too. They're made by Daikin. I have seen them on ebay but I ended up getting mine locally for about $90 (I couldn't afford anything more at that time and my clutch was gone). I have about 6K miles on it so far and it's doing well and feels about like a stock clutch. Make sure you get your flywheel machined or replaced. It cost me $35 to have mine machined at a local machine shop.
