I'm going to need some help.

1992 4runner 3vze
Broken bottom end, crank moves 1/8 rotation.

I have the engine stripped to the block. I'm hoping to pull the block without the trans. Is it possible to separate the auto tranny from the engine without being able to turn the crank to remove the torque converter bolts? Further more how would I do it even if the trans was pulled with motor?

I picked up a complete running motor that was pulled from an 89 runner with a manual trans. It was cut at the wiring harness. My harness is complete and still attached to the truck. Am I looking at a plug and play swap or ??

I will have a boatload more questions as this project moves along.

Yes you can pull it just leave the torque converter attached. You kinda have to if you can't spin it over.

How does pulling with the TC differ from actually unbolting it from the flex plate.

As far as installing I would guess removing and seating on the trans before engine install?

You just leave it bolted to it? Not sure what part is confusing.
Yes, installing the new engine seat the torque converter back in the trans. Be careful with the input seal

I concur. This will be the easiest method other than dropping the oil and and loosening mains and connecting rods which will be a pia. But as stated be careful with the input shaft.
I'd probably drop the transmission then pull the motor. Or you can pull it as a whole unit motor and trans. Just pick your poison.

Ok motors out. TC is pulled. Anything else I should do while the motor is out? Other wise the plan is reseat TC, reinstall motor, start working on hooking it up.

Since the harness was cut, can I install mine without removing the intake? I don't see a way but???

Also I notice a large canister on the drivers side of my 1992 engine with hoses coming off (egr?) this is not on my older engine. (1988)
