Rebuilding the top end of the 3.0, re doing the whole exhaust, taking everything smog off, cutting off the portion of truck with the windows, fabbing rear control arms....basically im gonna go nuts on this thing cuz its just for off road now....anyway its great to be back i missed this forum!!

ok im starting the desembling of the engine and the first thing i do after port and polishing the heads and replacing the head gaskets is working on the exhaust....i gotta get rid of the y pipe that comes behind hte block i don't know whose "genius" idea that was but i was going to fabricate my own long tube headers and run true dual exhaust because im going to be putting a fuel cell in so the gas tank will be out of the way.....Does this engine need the back pressure of single exhaust to keep the torque numbers...because i was gonna run a custom longtube header into 2 in pipe to try and keep the back pressure cuz since its a 3.0 it needs something. i would have the exhaust exit out right before the rear wheels. Anybody else have any idea's??
