Ignition/starting problem

Ignition/starting problem
Got a new problem developing with the runner. Yesterday I went to start her up, turned the key, it kind of acted as if there was a dead battery. All the lights on the dash lit up, but it wouldn't even attempt to crank over. Then last night I went to take the key out of the ignition and it wouldn't come out of the ignition. I kept having to start the car, and try and take it out. It finally came out. Are these 2 problems linked? If so, what is the cause and solution? Thanks

may be linked. if the key does not fully return to off and allow you to remove it, the ignition switch may be partially completing a circuit causing a drain on the battery.
can not be sure though unless you can test the switch.
otherwise, since you got the key out, if you have no further problems in the future, it may have just been the keyway hanging up causing a drain on the battery.

Those things do wear out. Mine works except that you can remove the key in any position. The key almost falls out. I think I had to replace the switch on my wife's '94 Bronco (it's long gone) once.
