Like most folks have said here the "cheap" part of the lift is relative to how "duarable" you want it to be. You could easily leave your current T-bars in there and crank them a bit, then add some lift blocks to the rear to level it. That would be the least expensive route to go but the ride will be less than ideal.

Actually i also have an 89 4runner and have stock suspension(i think?) and its sitting on 31's without a problem. im wondering how i lift about 1 inch all suspension if possible?

i know nothing about ifs other than the basics of what stuff does. i dont even know what a torsion bar is or what it actually does though.. any links or explanations guys? (stolen thread returned) and yes ive searched and not quite got what i need yet.

a torsion bar is just a "spring", in that the the metal deforms under force and then returns to its original shape, which allows the suspension to flex on bumps, and to support the weight of the vehicle. in this case though, the deforming is a twisting action on the torsion bar connected to the A arms and the frame.

dude a 1" lift would def have to go to Ball Joint spacers...1.5 actually...just search for the spacers and you will find all kinds of threads on it

and without sacraficing a comfortable ride(my 4runner has a really nice ride right now atleast compared to my first gen and its straight axle, that thing rides TERRIBLY)

i can lift my ift 4runner without making it rough?? all i would need is ball joint spacers? sweet..
