Hello, I have a 1988 4runner 22RE 5-speed. I did a motor swap and the donor vehicle was a 1995 2wd Toyota truck. I've got the 88' running but the idle is jumping from 100rpm to 600rpm and fuel is spraying out of the #1 injector. Immediately replaced the o-rings and the gaskets for all four injectors. problem remains and fuel is still spraying.

However, when I did the motor swap I am still using the intake plenum, injectors, distributor cap off the 88'. The entire bottom end is from the 95 with the exception of t oil pan and the oil pickup basically the only thing from the 95 motor is the block and the heads. any questions please ask, I will be having the injectors refurbished..thanks

 

This may or may not be your issue but, I believe the 88 4runner uses low impedance fuel injectors and the 1995 uses high impedance. What year ECU are you using?

 

it was a combination of things, changed my injectors and and the air box computer can't remember the name of it either way both came off the 95 22RE. The injectors i just modified the clip and it worked like a charm
