Idle and throttle issues...

My truck is idleing all crazy...
Sometimes when I am at the stoped, now all the time. My 22re engine, which is only got about 5000 miles on it, will idle up then down over and over. Then at times when I push the clutch in it will spike up to around 2500-3500 rpms. I am prettty sure it is the timing, from a friend....is it? How hard is it to adjust......if it is it...... All help is apprieciated. Thanks...

I am not 100% sure what your issue is at this time. All I can tell you is that I have an auto that was doing similar things to yours. I just replaced my air filter, new plugs, wires, and adjusted my idle and now the truck is running good. Hopefully others will chim in and give you more info.

This doesn't sound like a timing issue. Does this occur after the engine has warmed up or when it is first started? Be very specific about what occurs while the engine is cold and hot. What has been done to the engine recently?

Your idle is set to high. This is in the sticky at the top.

Both warm and cold. No engine adjustments or any work lately. I have adjusted the idle before with no joy. The only major work was the engine was replaced about 3 years ago and only has about 5 miles on it. Also the distrubutator cap and the wires and plugs at the same time.
