When I first start up my 4runner it idles very smoothly at 1K. After warming up the RPMs drop to about 600 and it doesn't idle very smooth and gets kind of bouncy. The engine almost feels like it wants to stall out.

Is this a simple idle adjustment solution, or could there be other things to investigate? I am new to that Toyota scene.

Info on my 4runner: 94' 22RE complete rebuild 15K miles ago (by previous owner).

I would check my valve adjustment then set the idle to spec after warming up

 

Is it cam'd? Even if it isn't I'd adjust idle, before you troubleshoot any other possiblities. Start from the simplest out.

Mines cam'd and doesn't like to idle under 1000RPMs. Just my 0.02

 

My 4runner has an aftermarket cam. So you just set your idle to 1K RPMs?
