my 89 4runner sr5 seems to have an idle issue. the more I read the more I think it may be the auxillary air valve. When in gear with brakes applied idles fine. When in oark or neutral revs up. I laso noticed when the blower is turned on rpms rev. Could this be air in the coolant lines or a bad valve???
Any help?

 

The idle will normaly increase when put in park or nuetral because when in gear and the brakes on the tourque converter is giving the motor resistence. However it is a mild increase in idle. How high is the idle while in park or nuetral?

 

it revs between 1500-2000 and this is with the adjustment screw turned all the way in?

 

That is pretty high. I dont know much about the auto's. THis may be a silly question but do you have a check ingine light on?

 

idle screw all the way in... can't say much other than 'other issue causing vacuum leak'.

 

i tried spraying wd-40 aon the vacuum lines and got no change in idle, could it be the auxillary air valve or an issue with the coolant? I let it run for an extended period and the idle seemed to come down somewhat ti around 1100, and ther is no cel on.
