wait I'm confused

what are we talking about here now, a transmission or an IACV?

I don't think there's an o-ring in it regardless; matter of fact, I think they would be the same IACV no matter the trans

but on an auto trans, the idle is just set higher when in a nuetral gear

if there IS an o-ring in it, I don't think it's servicable

but, I could be proven wrong...

i think he's referring to the screw on the TB with the oring in it... one says trucks with auto dont have the oring and stick ones do..

the idle adjustment screw?

that SHOULD have an o-ring, regardless of the trans, I would assume

I know my stick shift had one, 'cause I replaced the old hardened up one that was in it, lol

matched it up at a parts store out of a big bin full of o-rings; cost me all of like $0.20

I'm pretty sure that shafner30 is talking about the o-ring gasket for the AAV (auxiliary air valve), what you guys are calling the IACV, shown on page EG1-202 of the fsm:
http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...34throttle.pdf

It's not unusual for there to be differences in the engine based on things like transmission - the throttle opener, for instance. Also, I think 2WD 22RE trucks lack a knock sensor while 4WD trucks have them.

But I agree, shafner30, that it is unlikely that the AAV on the MT trucks lacks a gasket. I have the 3VZE so can't tell you for sure. Maybe SOMEONE here will let you know...

Are you refering to this "O" ring??

If so I don't believe getting one in a rebuild kit will happen.
Buying one from yota is probably the way to go.

Good luck, I found the IACV to be a real pain.

yes i am talking about the o ring on the idle control valve..the one in the pic above this post.

toyota parts say..

if you have a automatic transmission you need the o-ring...

if you have a manual transmission you dont need it...

i find it hard to beleave that..

I'm just a dumb a**, but that O ring keeps air and cooling fluids from mixing, I'd say it is a must have for either.... DUNNO

I have to agree that there should be that o ring on both models, it does the same function.

Does anyone know what the iacv looks like on the throttle body off of a 3vz-e engine? I don't have that removable bottom piece.

I think it's integral to the throttle body with no serviceable parts. But I'm not sure. Let us know if you find otherwise.

It has a removable cover that exposes what looks like to be a plundger with ring that could possibly be backed out but I'm waiting to find some more info before I go and screw with stuff I know nothing about.
