Idle adjustment

Turned out my idle was way to high. I turned the screw to lower it and now it idles at 600. That seems about right, however that is turning it all the way down. Is this common?

Mine idles a little over 500rpm, but I'm not sure if that's a bad thing. I've gotten conflicting reports from friends but I think yotatech would have the best answer as to if 500rpm is too low or not. Is lower idle bad? Seems to run fine to me, but I want to know if I'm hurting something..

800 I think is the spec for the manual?

600 or so is the idle speed for an auto in drive.

Why all of a sudden does it have a fast idle? Several reasons. Low on coolant. Ther IAC also uses water to heat it up. Another option, plugged up coolant passage in throttle body. (seen this only on dirty rusty neglected cooling systems) and possibly a mis adjusted TPS which can advance timing giving it a fast idle.

radiator has 130,000 miles on it, and seems to be in good shape... I just know I took the Runner in for electrical work, get it back an it's running funny. I thought for a week or so that it was something that got wacked out but couldn't figure out until I just kept it simple and thought hmmmm should I just turn the idle down? lol at 600 rpm it idles like a champ.
