I am in the middle of a rebuild of an 89 4runner. One of the previous owners had this lift kit installed. I'm not too familiar with Independent lift kits, and I can not find any information on it (brand name) anything. Everything i find online today looks different from this lift kit.
I'm assuming either the company that made it no longer exists or isnt making it anymore.
The bushings are shot and I'm really just trying to make it functional again for now. (unable to do SAS at this time)
If anyone knows anything about this lift kit or where I might be able to get bushings for it, it would be greatly appreciated!
The upper A-arms with the remote linkage to the torsion bar is something I have never seen before. Possibly a home grown piece of fabrication but the welds and plate cuts look like a production piece of kit. The OEM spindle is maintained with this kit where as usually you get a new spindle and the upper A-arm is retained. The yellow, if original paint, might indicate Rough Country as there shock absorbers were yellow but after you got the shocks really hot they turned slightly orange. The limit strap is definitely Rough Country as they always sewed the strapping like this to opposite sides of the center strap
Energy Suspension Parts will have bushings for this as the upper tubes and bolt with internal sleeve looks fairly run of the mill as far as size and fit go for that upper A-arm. You will need to measure and see! Looks like factory OEM rubbers with go in the bottom A-arm.
By my observation the shorter length upper A-arm in this kit is not good for maintaining good alignment as the suspension is cycled fully. That would possibly be the reason that not many of these ever saw the light of day?
What do the shock absorbers look like, are they emulsion or decarbon gas shocks?
