Looking to redo my door panels on my 88 Xtra Cab 4x4 Pickup. I saw this person's truck on bring a trailer and really liked the look of it as it would also match my gray interior. Anyone able to identify what year this one is?
I think it's the SR5 panels that have the vinyl up to the window as opposed to exposed metal and the carpet at the bottom. To me that looks like a SR5 panel that has had the center fabric piece replaced with new fabric, and it looks like they had some trouble around the door latch. Not sure on year, probably started with a 86-88 panel. Mine are similar-original vinyl/carpet at top/bottom, but the center piece was gross and an interior guy sewed some new stuff in and replaced the ratty cardboard backing with abs plastic. No clue where those armrests came from. Very classy.

They’re door panels from a 2nd gen 4Runner with manual windows and have been modified to fit the 87 truck you were looking at. I went and found the truck you referenced on Bring A Trailer and see clearly that’s what the owner did. That’s why the latch is cut into the vinyl-covered metal piece at the top of the panel... the latch is higher on the door panel on a 1st gen 4Runner (and equivalent truck) than a 2nd gen. He swapped in seats from the 2nd gen 4Runner as well. The armrest also came from the 2nd gen 4Runner. Incidentally, I believe this answers a question I asked in another post last night about the interchangability of 1st gen and 2nd gen 4Runner armrests... It must be possible. This is the door panel swap I want to do.
