Hydrolocked?

i feel like that shop dicked you. sounds like just an ignition problem to me, because a click doesent mean it wont turnover. my runner made a clicking sound and wouldnt start and it was just an electrical gremlin.

Seriously, i agree.
This guy hasnt even made any effort to check the electrical, or he sure hasnt told us.
1) Your engine turns over.
2) Your starter CLICKS.
This means, you probably shorted something out and your battery could be dead, or your starter is full of gunk and wont turn over, or your starter solenoid is junk.
Pull the starter, tear it apart, clean it, grease it, and put it back on.
I give it 90-1 that it starts right up.

The shop said they tried to turn it over by hand and it was so locked up that they couldnt, they left the plugs in though. The only problem with working on it is that im in college so im really busy with school and dont have much time....The shop said the starter was fine but i just cant believe i could kill the engine from what i did. I also tried to start it with cables hooked up to my buddies truck and it still wouldnt. I havent checked the starter myself though which i will once i get back to school.

Its not that hard to hydrolock a motor

That blew a hole in the side of a 4.0L

ONLY thing to do is pull plugs before you do ANYTHING else. If it turns over ok after the water comes out then you're probably ok. Dont even try to start it until you get the water out. As already stated, the rods WILL bend before the water compresses, that's basic physics. Your starter is clicking because it's trying to turn over an engine full of water (Read: impossible). You've already probably broken something by getting towed around and dropping it into gear. Ask someone who snapped 2 rods on a 3.0 doing EXACTLY the same thing
. Water wasn't even halfway up my hubs, engine just spinning too fast.

all im saying is with what u described its not hydrolocked u have starter/fuse issuse's. and it hydrolocked that jeep in the video cus its a jeep and its not hard to put a hole in the block in those, they're made to break lol.

Or a 454 shoe-horned into a camaro?
MUCH easier on a 3vze...
Regardless, he isnt looking at any more than 20 minutes to pull the plugs..
If he lets the water sit in it too much longer it'll start rusting out, then he'll have bigger problems.

when i hydrolocked mine it also made a click noise kinda like the starter but was louder. ive had the start go bad and its a click, when i turned the key on my motor it was a clunk type noise..... pull ALL the spark plugs and grab a 19mm socket put it on the crankshaft bolt and turn it clockwise... if its stuck real good, then start looking for a new motor... ask me how i know, exact same thing happened to me a month ago, plulled the motor out 2 weeks ago and found this
i was in a pudle almost exactly like that one you were in too.... also you could remove the upper intake plenum and see if theres any water in your lower intake, there was in mine lol
but yea... start searching craigslist at least, ive been looking for any 3.0s in my area for two weeks and just found a short block with 30k on it yesterday
so yes it is possible to get a lot of water through your intake

Dude, I'm not entirely sure how bad the situation is, but i took my pickup (out of necessity, not by choice) through a nasty puddle (more like a lake in the bottom of a construction pit) that dwarfs yours. when my truck took the initial plunge, water was up to the hood. while i was going through the water, it was up to just below the doors. My rig did end up cutting out a bit after the plunge, but i was able to gas it back to life and it was fine, thank god (must have been something other than hydrolock). The whole message here is that i would be INCREDIBLY surprised if a puddle that small actually destroyed your motor. I could be wrong though, after what the shop seemed to have said.

I mean the puddle was about twice that deep probably in the middle, like right where my intake was i hit a rut in the puddle and a solid amount of water went near my intake. the entire engine got covered in water

I was surprised how easy it was to hydrolock my 3.0. I was only going about 15 mph max in first gear through a puddle that only came up to my hubs. Snapped 2 rods. If you like your motor, stay out of the water or buy a snorkel.
