How To Remove Front Axle

I need help figuring out how to get the front axle out of my 1987 4runner.

We've got the axle unbolted from the transmission.

And the brake caliper and hub has been removed.

And the clip and the spacer on the end of the axle has been removed.

The axle is just hanging there because there isn't enough room to pull it out past the transmission.

We tried turning the steering wheel left and right and control arm up and down.

We need about another inch of clearance to get this thing out.

You don't need to even remove the wheels... Just jack the front end up by the frame till you're off the ground.

1. Disconnect from Driveshaft
2. Disconnect from CV joints, push joints aside. Can be made easier if you remove the bolts
3. Stick a jack under, and remove the 3 bolts that hold it to the frame, slide back slightly and lower to floor...

Do you have some sort of bizarre lift?
