How much ATF?

So I dropped my trans pan on my 86 auto pickup to replace the TC solenoid and I cant find a clear answer as everything I've read says to add 3-7qts of atf.... I kind of need an answer alittle more specific as I ONLY DROPED THE PAN but searching through previous threads I just see people arguing and not any kind of helpful info on an exact answer I just bought this truck and it came without a dipstick so I'm SOL there

Well first off get a dipstick...

Call Jim at "yota Jim's", or Nancy at "yota yard". Both are located in Denver, CO.

The answer between seven and three quarts is probably accurate, I don't have the 86 service manual, start with how ever much made it into your drain and catch pan then you'll need to maybe add abit for what's on the floor and other places..

The 1988 FSM says...

Alright I got in touch with "yota Jim's" and "yota yard" both places said they really did not know how much to tell me.... I'll just try to measure how much came out like you said, just worried that it may have been low in the first place because I dont know when it was last serviced

In your other thread when I asked if you checked the transmission fluid, you said something along the lines of "yeah just did last week". That's really hard to do with out a stick of the appropriate length. You might have just done all this for nothing, mine acts just like you described when it's low on fluid..

Just saying...
