well i didnt change the oil filter (it only had about 1000 miles on it) so that could have been holding some water. Thus far on my 3rd oil change, my oil looks PERFECT, even after my late night spin last night.

Coolant levels are quite static. And the amount of smoke coming out is getting less and less, and didnt smell like anything in particular. It's definately not coolant burning as that smoke is pure white and is pungently sweet smelling.

Interestingly enough what little oil was on the outside of the heads has been burning off, and the smoke coming out of the tailpipe and the smoke evolving off of the surface of the heads seems proportional.

Oh one thing I did on the cylinder walls to prevent rust btwn putting the heads on and initial fireup (about 2 weeks time) I smothered the cylinder walls with oil....lol I forgot about doing that...could that be making the smoke?

This may be stupid for me to say, but doesn't it take a while for the new valves to seat?

I have about 10 minutes of collective run time on it....not much really.

As far as valves seating, I have no idea....hmmm

When my headgasket work was all said and done, we backed it out of the shop and let it idle for aboue 20 minutes while talking and tightening up loose lines and stuff. No smoke at all. I haven't seen it smoke yet.

Poor bumpin

your fine man...that is what has happened with all my head gasket jobs...left over crap all over the place is burning up...the reason why it may take long is that if its further down the exhaust line it will take a bit longer to heat up and burn up.
Drive it around and enjoy it!

Well ive been driving it around quite a bit, and it's stopped smoking for the most part. Even if one cylinder isnt hitting full compression (still need to do a compression check) it's still way more powerful than before. My truck will pull to 95 without much ado, then I ran out of room. I think hitting 100+ is not an issue at all. However I think Ill be doing the old ECT mod after all of these years since the truck drives TOTALLY different when in warm up mode instead of normal operational temp mode.

Right now though I gotta fix the TPS issue Im having as i have REALLY erratic shifting.
