Leave it on there, you can do all that without removing the pulley.

I'm assuming you mean the crankshaft pulley...

In that case you need to put your truck in gear (high I think). I used a 2 foot breaker bar. Some on here talk about using the starter to loosen the crankshaft bolt. I had to use 6 minutes of heat using a torch to get mine to loosen as the motor was already out of the vehicle.

to remove the PS pulley leave the belt on to loosen the nut, then remove the belt and nut and the pulley should just pull right off

X2 It has a notched keyway to keep it from spinning but it is just pressed on there.

You're doing exactly what I did last week on exactly the same truck. I've got a 92 xtra cab v6 5 speed. What I did was wrap a piece of rope around it with a slip not type of thing to hold it there and let friction do what it does best. But like the other guy said I don't think you really have to take it off. I don't know why it said you have to because all you do is lay the pump down near the frame anyways.

sometimes they corode on there. Put the nut back on, get a soft faced hammer, and tap on the nut while pulling on the pulley. It will back off slowly.

you may have to push down on the belt while trying to loosen for it to grab enough

Well to get the nut loose I used the rope and a wrench and to get the pulley off I threaded the nut back on so it was flush and put a prybar behind it pryed on it and hit the bolt with the nut on it and it came off. The reason for putting the nut back on is to save the thread. I did a headgasket change on mine and I did it fairly quickly and was my first time working on the thing and there is a pile of wires. I'm slowly getting the thing tuned and running right. And when putting things back together stay with the manual because it will tell you to put things back in a specific order and it is right. I had to take things apart a few times cause I skipped a few steps every now and again. Oh and one more thing, antiseize compound is your friend when putting it back together.
