The proper brak in procedure for a cam with a NON-roller follower/lifter
is to start the engine and immediately bring it up to 1800-2200 RPM and
run it there for 15-30 minutes (depnending on cam MFGR's
recomendations) this beds the lifters into the face of the cam and ensures
adequate oil supply during the break in procedure. After that it's
rev-city - no further "taking it easy" is necessary. The first 10-15
minutes of the cam's breakin will pretty much determine how long it will
last.

Probably a good idea to disconnect the coil and turn the motor over for a minute or so to make sure you got oil circulating up there before really running it.
