you get the clearnce without a scoop and you get room for bigger tires, im not a huge fan of them either but whats wrong with a 2 incher? (if its enough clearance) hood scoops do look badass IMHO though

it'a been covered HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of times....a body life will raise your COG...but NOT AS MUCH AS A SUSPENSION LIFT.

might check into getting a 3rd gen (or newer model) hood scoop grafted onto your hood...that's what i'm doing.

What about going to a junk yard and finding another rig with a factory hood scoop...like a newer Runner..Buy the hood, then cut the scoop out and weld it you your hood.

One of the guys in my local toyota club just took a sawzall to the hood and cut it along the seams. He hasn't finished it yet but I think he'll end up just caping the sides and putting a mesh at the back for ventilation (or cap it all the way around).

I just may scavenge the scoop from my 97 Outback this weekend. I have three hoods lying around. I'll take some pics this weekend if it looks decent. I really don't care what my Subaru looks like. It's only on the road until the end of the month.

I like 87hillbillyoter's, very subtle, but it gets the job done.

I already have a 2" body/drivetrain lift. and I'm planning on doing long-travel IFS, which is 3" more. Which means I'd probably have fender clearance for 40s with a little trimming. Zero reason to jack up the body 2" more just for some hood clearance.

anyway....I saw the toyotafiberglass scoop, and it's tempting. But I really prefer the look of a cowl, and cowls typically offer more cooling. Problem is, I need the clearance most pretty close to the front, so I'd need a pretty long cowl to not look weird.

Keep 'em coming!
