High Idle on Cold Startup 3VZ-E
Hey guys,
I got a '91 Pickup SR5, 3VZ-E, 300xxx km's, and whenever I go to fire it for the first time in the day or if its sat for a few hours, it'll idle high at roughly 2400 RPM then after a few minutes it'll slowly fall to normal idle which is about 1100-1200 RPM for me.
So I was just wondering if there was any way to fix this? I did do some reading and found out it could be the coolant lines for the throttle body, or the TPS, but these seem to be happening when peoples trucks are already warmed up.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

1100-1200 doesn't sound like a normal idle to me, but it's not crazy. A coldstart idle of 2400 sounds high, but if it's falling to 1100 after warming up then you probably don't have a catastrophic problem.
There are many possible causes, and I'm not expert enough to give you a comprehensive check list. However, my idle was high at around 1.5-2k and when I eventually I got around to fiddling with things I found that the idle screw was loose. I was able to adjust it to the point that it *usually* idles around spec (800rpms), but I need to get back in there and do a permanent fix.
The first thing I checked was the throttle. This wasn't the issue, but the cable can get "sticky" or may not have enough play. Other issues could be a vacuum leak, dirty throttle body, and probably electronic stuff that I know nothing about.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
