I have a 93 Toyota truck 22re engine, the truck has a high long idle when starting cold. The idle goes up to about 2100 rpms and will stay that way for way to long. The idle doesn't come down by hitting the gas pedal. The truck doesn't have this problem when the outside temperature is in the 90s or after the engine gets warm. I was thinking maybe a idle air control valve not working properly. Has anyone had this problem? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

 

It's been a long time since I worked on 22RE's but I do remember my son's 91 and 93 had similar issues and it was the IAC valve. One of them we took apart and cleaned up and it solved the high cold idle but the other required a replacement of the valve. So you had a good hunch and place to start looking.
