High beam not working when pushed, but works when pulled. 1/2 works

Hey!
I'm building up my (new) 87 4runner as you guys can tell by the few threads I have created.

My high beams - when I pull the lever toward me the high beam is working.

When I push the lever to activate and leave high beam on - the head lights cut out.

So - high beam works when I pull leaver and hold on (passing lights - aka police warning flash!).

When I turn them on, headlights turn off.

I know when you turn them on, the standard beam goes off and high beam only activates.

Anyone seen this?

I checked the fuses and all are fine (the fuse box next to the battery).

my 91 did the exact same thing when i bought it.. you need to take the steering wheel off and behind the wheel there are 4 screws holding on your head light switch... not the lever itself but the little black block behind the wheel that the lever attaches too. remove those 4 screws and the whole thing comes off...there are a couple wires also but if you change that it should work just fine.. it fixed my problem. good luck
