Help !!! Repack WBearing Problem

Ok I"m in the middle of trying to repack the wheel bearings on my '94 manual hub 4wd. Have the procedure from this website printed out, but I can't seem to get the center 12mm bolt in the middle of the hub loose.

I set the lockers to "free" per instructions however when I try to loosen the bolt the front drive axles just spin and the bolt won't come loose ?
How do I stop the front CV axles from spinning so I can get the bolt loose and the hub off ?

Thanks !!

Have you tried vice grips on the axle? Don't know if that is the best route. Some kind of impact wrench? Maybe just put the socket on it and hit the end of the ratchet with a mallet.

usally if you just smack the end of the ratchet real quick, they will break loose. If that don't work, use some vice grips as getitdone said.

Thanks guys, I was thinking about the vice grips, but wanted to make sure there wasn't something obvious I was missing.

Tc.....tried having wife step on brakes...didn't work.

I was thinking if the other front tire was on the ground it might prevent axle from turning (as I could see both axles turning while they were in the air).

I just put it back together for now. Will try it again Weds with Vise grips or maybe borrow an impact gun.
thanks for the posts guys
