Help please....emergency...sensor ID

Hello anyone with a '92 3.0...or close...

What's the little sensor with the blue connector at the back of the manifold right next to the engine coolant sensor. I don't see it anywhere in the FSM. I need to replace it TONIGHT if at all possible.

It's the one to the far right in the pic...well, where your's is missing....to the right of the grey one (ECT sensor). Is that the temp gauge sending unit?

Also, what is the big black one next to the heater hose? The cold start injector time switch? It appears to be in the FSM, but I need to make sure. Mine is snapped in half.

well, where that blank is on mine is cast aluminum, like there isnt anything to be put in there. The little one just to the right of the heater hose is my temp sender. Remember i have a 2wd 4runner('95)

those rear sensor blocks changed every year, so that 95 will be different from the 92 you are working on. Isn't it GREAT?!

Okay, now I know where the temp sending unit is. However, the blank one on yours.....is it not threaded?

And what about the black one?

Her's looks identical to mine...except for this mysterious one I'm trying to identify. Isn't THAT great?

Grrrr....I'll keep searching. I know there was thread around here somewhat long ago that talked about this "blue sensor". I just haven't been able to find it.

Oh! Bummer....a hole with no purpose. How sad...hehe.

Thanks anyway, then.

Someone give a shout if you have a clue.

Yeah, I really don't think it does at all. It's got something to do with the coolant...that I know.

I'll try to check my parts catalog tonight. So you have a total of 5 sensors back there?

Okay, but mine has five. I suppose I'll have to call Toyota Mon. The runner is stationary, anyway. No hurry now....pffft.

Thank you jasond!

I also checked my parts catalog last night, and I couldn't find any reference to a fifth sensor.

I must be confused or misunderstanding something.

Are the four sensors shown in the pic above the same as what is shown in the parts diagram pictured here?

The pic that I posted will not show the vacuum switching valve b/c it is not electrical (The bule/green part that is on the left that has two vacuum hoses going to it and is in front of the little upside down u shaped coolant hose on the pic above). That pic is out of the Toyota wiring diagram book. Are all five sensors that you are referring to electrical?
