Question Help with Dana 44

I have a Ford 9" front axle with Dana 44 outers, I bought Chevy flattop knuckles for high steer and Chevy hubs and spindles. When I tried to install them the locking hub bottomed out on the spindle before it would go in. Does anyone understand this?? Let me know......

Eeeeeh yuck. Just for s and giggles does the hub bottom out when you have it in the unlocked position? Hubs are easier to install when they are compressed but you might have checked that. I would also reccomend pirate, there are some mega Dana heads there.
