help help help...okay first i was clueless on how to take apart the rotors and hub... got that done
2nd was about cleaning the parts... got that done
3rd bolt broke in axle. got that done

now clueless on how to put these W shaped anti rattle springs on my calipers

 

Hey yota, you are going to have to take off that bolt and washer in the center of your hub. Then take off the outer part.(whats remaing of your hub) After thats off you should see the big 54mm nut. On mine there is two 54mm nuts and a keeper in between that has ears bent over the flats on both nuts. Bent the ears out of the way and take off the nuts. The rotor and hub assembly will then come off and you should pack your bearings now. Your rotor should have bolts that you can access from the back side. 14mm I think.
Its easier to do it than to describe it.

Remove the nut/washer in the hub.
There are little split washers on each of the little studs on the hub. Thread an acorn nut on the stud just a bit to prevent damage to the threads and hit the edge of the hub assembly with a hammer and brass punch and the washer will pop out - do them all the same way.
Then you'll need to ben a few of the locking tabs from the 54mm nut and remove the nut, then you should be able to remove the locking tab (that is sandwiched between the 2 54mm nuts) then spin off the other 54mm nut.
Then take the rotor and flip it face down into the tire (as if it were being bolted together) you'll see the bolts in the back of the rotor - hold the tire and use a breaker bar and socket to break the bolts loose. Then take a cold chisel to the gap between the 2 halves of the rotor and the tire mounting surgace. (where the lug studs are) This will split the two halves. then just take the new rotor and old mounting surfave and re assemble, then clean and repack the bearings and reinstall all your parts in reverse order following the manual for torque specs for the 54mm nuts...

Those don`t look like warn hubs if they are there are no cone washers .

If they are stock and the cone washers have not been out for a while I soak them good for a while then take the air hammer with a round bit and they come right out . using never seize putting them back on.

 

I just did that on mine. Its real easy, but also real messy (grease). Do you have a clymer manual or a chiltons manual?

Have you beaten the beejeezus out of it trying to separate the hub/rotor yet??

There are several bolts on the back side holding it together. I found an impact wrench adn PB Blaster to be VERY beneficial at this point...

 

yea i took them bolts off... i clamped the old rotors to my table vise and hammered away. any tips on how to clean the grease off of everything so i can re-grease everything. also on my way to get new rear rotor seals.

 

Get a gallon can of parts cleaner from a parts store - the good ones have a metal basket inside which makes it easy to clean a bunch of small parts. Just soak the parts in the cleaner for a few hours. The more grease you can wipe off before dipping, the longer your parts cleaner will last before you have to get a new can. Be sure the parts are COMPLETELY dry before regreasing. This thread may help:

help i have a new problem. my bolt broke in the axle...

i edited my other post and tried to edit my title too but for some reason it didn't update. so this is my problem.

my bolt snapped in the axle while installing the rotor/hub



my question is do i really need that washer there? all i remember while take the rotor/hub out is that it holds the WARN manual hub with a little play. any help would be great. thanks

 

Try an easy out, if that doesn't work - Tap and Die.

 

Well, it DEFINITELY needs to be there.
It prevents your axle from sliding out..
So...
Go get an easy out, and get that sucker out...

now i have another question.
my brakes were missing them anti rattle springs... so i went to toyota to get some. its in a shape of a W. how the do i install these. tried looking for pics. cant find any.

 

Not hard, but describing it is.

The tips of the W go into little holes in the caliper, then each bend in the W wrap around the two locating pins that you slide into the calipers through the pads. I couldn't find a pic either. Sry.

 

YOTA, what was the part number on your hubs? I am looking to get the same ones, not sure what I need, however.
