Help with 3VZE ignition timing
My car has being stubling when i accelerate and has been overheating like crazy... i was reading the haynes manual and it says incorrect timing... When i adjusted it the first time i went 10 degees but im not sure if i put it BTDC or if i over advanced it.. So im wondering with side of the 0 its supposed to be on if im standing in front of my truck.

and also i think my knock sensor wire got cut because the wire is just hanging over the head and im reading about it from other people and judging by the location from were the wire is coming from, im thinking it is the knock sensor, and im not sure if it is a ground or if it actually goes to a power source

you will probably wanna take the intake off (10 bolts i think) so that you can get a good connection for the wire, before reinstall do ohms check on wire to insure continuity. you actually need to fix the wire before trying to correctly time the engine, cuz with a broken/malfunctioning knock sensor/wire that will retard your timing to prevent worse things from happening. my truck is 91 though

10 degrees to the right (if looking down at the engine, so drivers side) would be retarding the timing. You are telling him to go the wrong way.
It needs to be at 5` BTDC with the check connector short circuited at idle.
If you retard the timing like Anthony told you, it will run worse.
